5th - 12th March 2009
Welcome to our sixth fabulous year!
You want it, we’ve got it! Fashion, politics, laughter, music, intrigue, poetry... something for everyone. It’s a Festival not only for women – anyone can come along and celebrate the best that women bring to our world.
A new departure this year for us is Women in Jazz, who will bring a wonderful combination of live music and fascinating jazz history, to a new venue for the Festival, Wyastone. As always, we’ve got some thought-provoking politics as Ann Clwyd MP talks knowledgeably about women in today’s Iraq.
We’re delving into the history of fashion – why
we wear what we wear – with Patricia Halliday and, at the Festival exhibition, into the story of |
Monmouth’s first women to take up a public role. If it’s literature you like, come to our literary lunch and celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March along with authors Julia Gregson and Maureen Lindley. Poetry? Then we have none other than the National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke, to inspire you. Journalism? Then listen to Bel Mooney, one of Britain’s best-loved columnists, who reflects on a life lived to the full.
Live yours to the full, and come and join us!
